Durga |
Deity Durga |
| Besides these 108 names, Durga is also called
by many other names, such as, Rati, Barani, Tamasi, Nanda, Tulsi
Devi, Roudri, Naini Devi etc.
The wheel of Time creates the moments, seconds, minutes, hours,
days, nights, fortnights, months, equinoxes, years, yugas, manwantaras,
kalpas and so on, while the Mahakala (the eternal time), though
three fragments of time rise up like waves of sea on his body,
remains placid and devoid of all movements, without any beginning
or end. This Mahakala lies at the feet of Mahashakti who remains
as the neutral zone of all manifestations in life. She is the
eternal cosmic energy. She is worshipped all over India with
the same ardour under different names and manifestations-the
most benign face of the goddess is Durga. She is Kali. She is
Shakti. She is Durga. She is the supreme Goddess of the universe.
